This Art and Poetry Collaborative exhibition will demonstrate how voices of poets and artists who self-identify as affected by mental illness can heal and create empathy in Rochester, Minnesota. The goal is to examine how mental health can impact groups differently, including youth, BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and underserved populations. I would display work at the Historic Chateau Theater in downtown Rochester from poets and artists who self-identify as affected by mental illness. The exhibit and broadside release would open with a poetry reading and ceremony in April 2025, National Poetry Month, and be open to the public through May 2025, National Mental Health Awareness Month
Finch has created “Eat or Be Eaten,” a cardboard sculpture specifically for this exhibition. This is the first sculpture she has done on her eating disorder experience.
