In 2023, Finch was commissioned by Threshold Arts to create a wearable sculpture for Studs, Struts & Stilettos — a fundraising fashion competition where each garment must be constructed from at least 90% building materials. That year’s theme was Broadway, and Finch reimagined Little Shop of Horrors as a living, wearable plant monster.
The sculpture was crafted from spray foam, flooring, carpeting, and other construction materials, transformed into a bold, theatrical costume. Its dramatic feature was the back: a gaping, articulated mouth that opened and closed as model Laurel Podulke Smith commanded the runway.
This inventive creation earned the award for “Best Interpretation of the Theme.”
